Policy & Campaigns
FLAC’s ultimate aim is to persuade the government of Ireland to establish a comprehensive system of civil legal aid and advice. Our services uncover legal provisions that are unfair, discriminatory or not reflective of social realities.
We advocate for change through policy analysis and campaigns. This can involve taking strategic cases that may have a wider effect than on one individual client, through our Independent Law Centre.

Civil Legal Aid
In 2022, the government established a review of Ireland’s civil legal aid system in line with our recommendations. This is a very significant moment in the history of access to justice in Ireland. FLAC has campaigned for equal access to justice since its inception in 1969.

Credit & Debt
Our economic model encourages borrowing money. This can make the consumer vulnerable. FLAC advocates for stronger consumer protection in the areas of credit and debt.
